ASAMI MIYAMOTO
LANGUAGE TEACHER, TRANSLATOR, ENTREPRENEUR

Growing up near Tokyo and being a native Japanese speaker, Asami moved from Cairo to London in 2013 to focus on her career as a Japanese language teacher.

 

Having completed a Japanese Teacher Training Course at the Japan Foundation Cairo Office, as well as the Cambridge CELTA (Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) at the International House London, Asami is qualified both as a Japanese language and TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) teacher and has been teaching languages since 2011. This experience includes teaching courses at the British Council Egypt, the Embassy of Japan, Imperial College London, and secondary schools in London.

 

In 2014, Asami completed a full-time MA in Theory and Practice of Translation (Japanese Path) at SOAS, University of London, which further enhanced her linguistic competence in both Japanese and English. In 2015, she was selected as one of the three Graduate Entrepreneurs of the year by the University for her "Teaching Japanese to Dyslexic Learners as a Second Language" project and endorsed for UK Graduate Entrepreneur visa. She then set up a limited company ASAMI LANGUAGE SERVICES LTD. to circulate Japanese language and promote Japanese culture to from school children to adults in the UK.

In July 2017, she acquired UK Entrepreneur visa to make the language and culture services available more widely across the U.K.. 

​

Since November 2017, Asami has also been regularly running Japan/U.K. language and culture exchange events both in London and online to build a community of Japanese learners and Japanese people in the world.
